The Clinic

Two rooms, under a barrel vault, on a lane off Main Street.

SKiN is a small clinic and intends to stay one. Two treatment rooms, a clinician who has been in practice for over twenty years, and a price list anybody can read before they walk in.

How We Work

Four rules. Two of them cost us money and we keep them anyway.

Four things we do that most clinics do not.

01

We publish every price.

All of them, on one page, including the ones that make us look expensive. The only treatments without a figure are the ones the law does not allow us to price, and we say so on that page rather than leaving a blank.

02

Nothing is treated on a first visit.

Assessment, plan, price, and time to think. That gap is deliberate. It is the difference between a decision and a sale.

03

Four consultations cost nothing.

Including the one with Dr Natalie Olivera, BDS (Hons) MFDS RCS (Eng), general dentist and Level 7 aesthetics clinician. You should not have to pay to be told that a treatment is wrong for you, and charging for the assessment quietly pressures the person who most needs an honest answer.

04

We say no, in writing, and explain why.

Some people who ask for a treatment should not have it. Saying so costs a booking and keeps a reputation, and after twenty years there is no version of this job where that trade is close.

The corridor: brass battens set in a chevron across cream plaster, lit along the skirting.

The brass and the vaulted ceiling are not decoration. They are why the room is quiet.

The Building

A clinic that does not look like one, on purpose.

The room is old. The vault above the consultation chair is original to the building, and most of the work of fitting out a clinic here was a matter of not covering it up.

Every room is lit by concealed LED at skirting level rather than from overhead. That is a clinical decision as much as an aesthetic one: overhead light flattens skin and makes assessment harder, and it is also the light that makes people feel they are in a waiting room. Light from the floor does neither.

The brass battens in the corridor are set in a chevron across the plaster. They are the one thing in the building nobody else in Gibraltar has, and they are the reason the corridor is the photograph on half the pages of this website.

SKiN and The Collective

Two businesses, one door, four numbers apart.

SKiN is the clinic. The Collective is the salon.

The Collective is a hair and beauty salon at number 40 Engineer Lane. SKiN is the aesthetics clinic that sits inside the same building at number 36. They share a front door and they are not the same business.

If you have come for a treatment on this website, you are coming to SKiN. Walk in and say so. If you are looking for hair or nails, that is The Collective, and they are very good at it.

The Record

Quoted verbatim, including the original grammar. The roughness is the proof.
